How to extract pages from a PDF
- Add your PDF. Every page starts selected; press Clear selection to start from none.
- Choose what you need: tick the pages, hold Shift for a run, or use Select range with
1,5-9,12. - Check the export button — with only some pages selected it tells you how many will end up in the new file.
- Press Export PDF. The pages you picked become one new document, in the order they appear in the workspace.
One new file, not many
Extracting gives you a single PDF containing the pages you chose. That covers the everyday need: pull the three pages of an invoice out of a 60-page statement, or lift one signed page out of a contract to send on.
It is not the same as splitting a document into several files at once — that job needs its own rules about where to cut and how to name the results, and it isn't available here. If you need five separate files, extract five times.
The pages you did not select are simply not part of this export. They stay in the workspace, so you can select a different set and export again without adding the file a second time.
What the extracted file contains
Each extracted page is copied structurally from the source, so its text stays selectable, its links keep working and its page size is unchanged. A landscape drawing extracted from a portrait report is still landscape.
Document metadata and bookmarks come from the source PDF, and only the parts that still make sense for the pages you kept. Editing and re-exporting a PDF can invalidate an existing digital signature; your original file is never modified.
Frequently asked questions
How do I select a lot of pages quickly?
Type them: 2,10-25,60 selects a single page, a stretch and another single page in one step. Holding Shift while ticking does the same for a visible run.
Do the extracted pages keep their original page numbers?
Their content is unchanged, so any numbers printed on the pages are still there. Inside the new file they are simply page 1, 2, 3 in the order they appear in the workspace.
Can I extract pages from two PDFs into one file?
Yes. Add both, select pages from either, and the export puts them into one document in workspace order.
Is this the same as splitting a PDF?
No. This produces one file from your selection. Splitting one document into several files in a single step is not available.
Does anything leave my device?
No. Both reading the PDF and writing the new one happen in your browser.
